What do you do in your volunteer role at the WCA?
I am an Ambassador Lead.
How long have you been a volunteer?
Almost a year (officially).
What do you find most rewarding about your work at the WCA?
The WCA has a lot of meaning to me and my family. Our family has been directly impacted by sexual and domestic abuse, so giving hope to those who are going through it, or have gone through it is so rewarding. When my sister was in an abusive relationship, she had a loving family to turn to for help, but a lot of women and children do not have that. It makes me so happy that, as volunteers or whatever we do at the WCA, we can be that family for those who do not have someone to turn to.
How have you changed or grown as a person through your work here?
Working at the WCA has really opened my eyes to how much this happens in our community. I was passionate about the WCA before I started volunteering there, but now I have a deeper desire to make an impact in the community. I just keep saying “yes” to everything I can participate in at the WCA.
